FAQ

Q?

Do you outsource your work to other people or countries?

A.

Motion City Media never outsources to foreign countries.  All work is completed by Americans in the United States.

90% of the services provided by Motion City Media are completed only by Motion City Media employees within Ohio.  The other 10% is only outsourced in America and in special circumstances, such as a Client requesting a website customization that is unusual and requires an uncommon skill set.  Or a Client requesting video filming and production for use in a website.  In that case, we hire only the best American experts.  In many cases, we simply provide a referral so that the Client can decide if they want to work with that outside person.

Q?

How long will it take for my project?

A.

All project time frames will vary depending on what the project is, communication between us and you, if any third parties are involved, revision requests, and our current workload.  Every project proposal will outline an expected time for completion, based on those factors.

We do not offer any rush rate services unless it is to resolve urgent issues such as website hacking or a website or server is down.  All of our Clients are top priority and we do not feel it is fair to serve others out of turn, unless it is an emergency.

Q?

But XYZ design company is $10 per hour cheaper!

A.

If you find another design firm that is offering a cheaper hourly rate, you need to be sure you are comparing "apples to apples" and not "moldy pears to fresh apples".  Always get the final project cost in writing or a cap of hours or a maximum budget.  Along with a detailed list of ALL services and terms of service.  You may think you are getting the same things at a better rate, but later find out that they take an excessive amount of time to complete their work, have hidden charges, or you were not getting all of the same services in that price.  In the end, it costs you more money and stress.

Q?

Why are you so expensive? Why are you so cheap?

A.

We get inquiries from both sides of the spectrum.  Our pricing is actually considered median (mid-range) for our industry.

You may see pricing as low as $10 per hour from other countries or local basement dwellers. At such low and unrealistic rates, you are sacrificing quality and security for both yourself and whatever that person is working on. It costs money for equipment, marketing, education, time and other expenses so it is important to ask yourself if the price someone is offering makes sense.  Don't waste your money on a scam or someone who is not skilled.

On the other hand, you may see outrageous and exorbitant pricing from our competitors.  We have been hearing of rates of $150 to $200 per hour and ridiculous website and SEO proposals for $40,000.  Beware of these companies in their lavish and expensive designer buildings.  Unless you are creating the next Google.com or Amazon.com then the average website design should cost between $1,000 (basic) and $10,000 (advanced).

Q?

How much do you charge?

A.

Our hourly rates are between $50 and $75, depending on the type of service.  We do not generally charge an open hourly rate because we prefer to provide flat fees whenever possible.  To do that, we calculate the anticipated amount of time and extra costs involved with each project and use that to provide a flat rate.

Q?

I don’t see a certain service. Do you offer it?

A.

If you are looking for a certain service or something special and you believe it is something along the lines of the services we have listed here, feel free to contact us and inquire about your needs. We may be able to help you!
